Living Wage Fraser Valley - 2013 Update
For families with young children, the costs of basic necessities like food, rent and childcare quickly add up. Even with full-time work year round, both parents in a family of four must earn at least $16.37 to escape severe financial stress in the Fraser Valley. This new report shows the real costs of raising a family in the Fraser Valley.

Abbotsford youth collaborated with Reel Youth to create a video to raise awareness of poverty in our community.
A team of local youth collaborated with Reel Youth to create a video that raises awareness of poverty in our community. The helps shift attitudes and build compassion for youth living in poverty and stimulates public interest in poverty reduction efforts.
Banking on Youth
Sixty-one local youth completed Financial Literacy sessions as part of Vibrant Abbotsford's Banking on Youth initiative. Youth gained knowledge, skills and confidence and became better equipped to make positive financial choices that could prevent them from falling into poverty. Many participants were inspired to make positive behaviour changes including setting money goals, developing budgets, reducing banking fees and making plans to pay off debt.

Employer practices
Employees earning less than a Living Wage and their employers were surveyed on topics such as familiarity with the Living Wage, employment satisfaction and hiring practices.
Neighbourhood Action Grants
Vibrant Abbotsford funded community projects focused on poverty reduction, neighbourhood safety, social and cultural diversity, affordable recreation, and team building.
